Paranormal Activity moving to Broadway after Toronto run!

Paranormal Activity moving to Broadway after Toronto run!

playbill announced today that the show will be getting a limited broadway run starting in august! though the article doesn't mention that the show is playing in toronto, i'm assuming that the broadway cast will be coming here first (casting has not been announced yet).

mini theatre review from my trip to broadway

The Lost Boys: (centre mezzanine) visually stunning. I went this past Tuesday on the day of the tony nominations announcement and Patrick Wilson (I assume is a producer) made a short speech before the show thanking us for coming and briefly discussing the 12 nominations the show received. The audience was going absolutely wild especially for a Tuesday night performance but the praise is well deserved. I just knew from the opening scene that it was going to be a great show.

Cats The Jellicle Ball: (stage seating) I got very lucky with this ticket. Lined up for rush the morning of, was second in line and got 2 seats on stage (in the first row!) for myself and a friend. Such a cool and unique experience! This adaptation is so well done that you almost forget you’re watching Cats. Corbin Bleu and Tracey Ullman were guest judges for this performance and one of the cats made a reference to “push it to the limit” from Jump In because Bleu was in attendance.

Death Becomes Her: (centre orchestra) my second time seeing the show. this was a lottery win and we got phenomenal seats with a perfect view of everything. First time seeing Jenn, Betsy and Christopher because understudies were on the last time I saw the show. Jenn is always incredible and I liked what Betsy brought to Madeline, I felt she played the role bitchier. Also, Bill Nye The Science Guy was sitting a few rows ahead of me!

Rocky Horror: (centre mezzanine) this show was the main purpose of our trip and it was well worth paying a premium for our tickets. Luke Evan’s was absolutely fantastic as Frank. I liked that he paid tribute to Tim Curry but wasn’t trying to be an imitation. The show felt a bit rushed at times, but aside from that it was a really fun night at the theatre!

Stranger Things: (left mezzanine) another lottery win! the show is super loud so I was grateful that I had my loop earplugs with me, but I feel like it kind of has to be for this show specifically. this was another show that just from the opening scene, I knew it was going to be a good show. the actor playing Henry did a fantastic job, though I did wonder if doing that role is painful on his body every night. Really cool visual effects, especially the puppets, and it was neat having the actors come into the audience.

overall a fantastic trip!
