Tailgate hinge warranty question
I bought my 2022 Tacoma TRD OR in September of 2025 with about 31,000 miles. I got the platinum warranty when I purchased my truck. I’m at about 47,000 miles now and last night when I opened my tailgate, it dropped down hard and I found the passenger side bracket/bushing was fucked. No idea how it happened I had been opening and closing my tailgate throughout the day with no issue. I bought a new $5 bushing from Toyota hoping it was just that but after taking the tailgate off, the “C” shaped bracket on the passenger side is noticeably bent. Anyone have any experience with this and if warranty is likely to cover it? It sounds like I won’t be able to get an answer from the dealership until I can bring it in for them to look at which won’t be until Saturday at the earliest. Would like to order the parts sooner than later if it’s not likely they will cover it. Until then, I’ll drive around and have everyone thinking my tailgate got stolen 😂
