Hi all,

Im able to build custom hv batteries, and I can design 3d models and print them with my 3d printer.

Im wanting to vesc my onewheel+ XR and I wondering what the safe maximum voltage would be for the stock motor. Im looking for a substantial power upgrade with 25+ miles range (200lb).

I know that if I want to use 21700 cells, ill have to make a new battery enclosure which im totally willing to do.

Affordability is also a concern. I have around $300 budget for everything I need for the vesc conversion (excluding battery and bms cost).

What kind of vesc controllers should I consider?

What voltage should I run?

What would the battery config look like? 20s?

Thanks!

Thank you guys! With all the helpful tips, I was able to build my battery relatively easily without any hiccups.

All thats left is some kapton tape, fishpaper and shrinkwrap.

I decided to try the copper nickel sandwich technique for welding batteries, and i can get a very secure hold. My main concern is the heat generated and if it looks like it would be too much?

The cells used are dead cells that i used for practice.

Second photo is the tear off test.

Im basically maxing out my awithz uf20b spot welder.

Im reusing cells from a 10s2p pack, and i noticed some electrolyte leaked unto the fishpaper. I cant visibly see where the leak it on any of the cells.

If I measured internal resistance and voltage, would the leaky cell be immediately obvious? Are there any good ways to test for that?

Hi,

Im replacing the cells is multiple 10s2p packs, and im not sure if the bms from those packs work. If they don't, i would need to replace the bms with something off the market. I cant find any 10s 35a bms anywhere! Especially with this form factor.

I don't need a Bluetooth bms. Just something simple and inexpensive.

I did find a 30a bms, but im uncertain it would be wise to use in battery that would be used for esk8. Esk8 in question is a meepo v3.

Third picture is the 30a bms. (It also seems very light compared to the 35a bms which makes me question the quality.)

I appreciate the help.

Custom battery on onewheel XR hw 4210 sw 4216?

Hi all,

Im planning on buying a used onewheel and upgrading the battery with better cells. For this onewheel xr configuration (hw 4210 sw 4216), what would be needed to be able to put in a custom battery? Could I re-use the bms on the original battery? If I wanted higher capacity, what would I need to do?

Im looking for the cheapest DIY solution. I have all the tools and skills necessary. I've built lots of custom esk8 battery packs, but I need a bit of help navigating the "owie" chip.

Appreciate the help.

Edit: sw version is 4165 not 4216
