Rusty Wrought Iron - Y shaped metal piece of something - Possibly Ancient Iron Age to 1800's - Ireland. 6cm x 5cm
Found in some delivered topsoil in the 1980's so no more info on where its from other than in East Ireland.
It feels ancient. Its iron, with layers of rust - not modern cast iron or steel.
It looks to me like wrought Iron as It has that stringy layers look I've seen on those ancient rusty boat anchors.
So age is somewhere from over a hundred - could be as far back as iron age BC - no idea -
No screws, pins or welds visible - its handmade - not perfectly circular - goes to points but this could be due to age.
