11 month old puppy is pregnant
I have an intact male almost 2 years old And an 11-month-old female intact who just went through her first heat. The plan was to see how she fills out after 2 years and consider breeding them. Kept them apart for several weeks 2 weeks after she stopped bleeding. There was one time my kids were careless and she got out with him for 15 minutes. But she is so much more high energy than he is and he didn't seem to notice her scent for the first couple weeks that we were pretty sure nothing had happened. Now we're looking at possibly 24 days from that occurrence and she is round. They are the same breed and she is larger than he was at his age. So we're not worried about size compatibility. But I do feel that 11 months not only is irresponsible physically for us to continue the pregnancy but I'm worried about how this will affect her mentally. She is still such a baby with puppy energy. She's already slowing down. The puppies would go quickly because the breed is not very common but very well loved and sought after. My male is AKC registered but my female is not and we aren't trying to make a profit just good reliable homes. How many would get a spay abortion in this scenario? Ps- only reason I wanted to consider breeding in the future is so that I can get one puppy that's like my male because his temperament is perfect and this breed doesn't live for very long.
