What got you started into this?

How did you get started overlanding?

I got started simply by wanting to have mobile camping ability. I love traveling and I wanted a simple way to be able to just pull over anywhere and camp. I started with just a bed rack and rooftop tent. After meeting up with some other overlanders on a 4x4 excursion, I went down the rabbit hole of adding storage boxes, suspension, roof rack, accessories galore. It started off as a way to save money on road trips to spending more in a month than I would have saved in 10 years. I don't regret it though, and building it out has been a fun hobby, even if I only ever use the rig a couple times a year.

If you were offered 1 free item to complete your rig, what would it be?

If someone offered to gift you one item for your overlanding setup, what would you choose? It can be anything, regardless of price, as long as it's only one item.

So I have spent the last 6 months trying to decide on a RTT for my build. I wanted something that I could lift and mount on my own. After alot of research, the OVS Atlas seems to win out with its 180lb weight. I regularly lift heavy objects often around 150-200lbs so this seemed like a walk in the park. However I quickly discovered that it is far more than 180lbs. I took my truck to the scales before and after mounting and it is around 310lbs. This explains why it took 3 grown men that lift regularly to pick it up. This is incredibly frustrating and full on false advertising. A few extra lbs I would understand but nearly double is not a simple mistake. Just a heads up for anyone looking at it and calculating their payload with other gear.

I'm looking for a way that I can mount these to be able to remove these easily. My truck doesn't fit in the garage with them on so I need to be able to quickly pull them off and on. Preferably a way that I can lock them as well.
