Do you plan meticulously or make it up as you go?

Up until now (approaching 10yrs of having a quarter plot), I kind of bumble along and things happen organically (haphazardly).

Yes, by mid summer, it kind of comes together in a naturally forgiving way, but I know it could be so much more.

I really need to get more organised and think about my space so that I can optimise it and make managing it um, manageable.

I've measured everything and am thinking about using this season to get ship shape for next year.

What's your approach?

Found out who is responsible for destroying my sunflowers.

This has been puzzling me, opening the greenhouse to find snapped off sunflower seedlings.

Thought maybe a vole got in, then accused a fat woodlouse. Two more felled this morning so I removed the compost from the cell (it's a deep root trainer size).

Found the culprit (second photo).

Who is it? Some kind of larvae, but what? Incidentally there were some black soldier flies in the greenhouse this morning.

Could this be a bag bad of compost, or would it arrive by itself? More sunflowers in the next cell went the same way. Fancy sunflowers as well the little sh*t.
