Hello everyone!!
There’s a lot of confusion around Reiki, so I tend to frame it in a very simple way when teaching:
What it can be:
a structured way to develop awareness
a method to support relaxation and attention
What it is not:
a replacement for medical care
something that requires belief to ‘work’
In practice, most beginners benefit simply from slowing down and engaging with their body in a more intentional way.
How do others explain Reiki to people who are new to it?

What are your thoughts?

Hello everyone
I’ve been teaching small groups in London, and one thing that consistently surprises people is that the first benefit they notice is not ‘energy’ in an abstract sense—but increased awareness of their body.

Many report:
* noticing tension they were not aware of
feeling calmer without trying to ‘relax’
improved attention to breathing

From a teaching perspective, this aligns closely with what we would call self-regulation rather than something purely mystical.
Curious if others have noticed similar effects when learning or practising?
