Desperately need help with ECT treatments at Barnes Jewish. Will pay $300 a week for 9 hours.

I am in a very uncomfortable position where I need help with my mental healthcare treatments. And I don't want to get scammed. And I don't have money flying out of my ass either. But I don't have any friends who are available and can take me 3 times a week to Barnes Jewish Hospital. And these absolutely stringent at the ECT department *WILL NOT LET ME TAKE AN UBER HOME* and require somebody to sit there and wait the 2 to 3 hours. And my mom can't take off work. My dad is undergoing medical stuff himself and is not available. Everyone I know has a job. And I'm relying on flakey people to take me and they can't take me or they let me know last minute. Task Rabbit is worthless bc nobody wants to be up at 7am. It's literally the most inconvenient bullshit ever. If you are available, I will pay you through Venmo. I don't carry cash so if this is one of those I'll rob a desperate stranger on the Internet situations... Or if *anyone* knows of a good agency with *reasonable* rates. I'm not some rich depressed child from Ladue who can just hire a live-in caretaker. I really need this done. I'm trying to find someone now by next Monday. Monday at 720am. DESPERATE is an understatement.

Otherwise I'll literally be forced to be admitted to the psych ward. And I don't fucking want to do that. That sounds absolutely horrible. It's humiliating enough that the treatment is even in the psych ward. Someone for the love of God please help me.

Essential books every type nerd should read...

I only really ever read Wikipedia articles about typography and different typefaces. I would get entirely lost for days in a book that would theoretically start me at Gutenberg and bring me all the way up to Roboto Flex variable fonts... What book would literally just explain everything?? Whoever gets the most upvotes wins...

A guide to downgrading to February firmware with Odin

Step 0. I entirely encourage you to do all of this at your own risk. But before you do that. Download Samsung Smart switch either on another Samsung device or a PC or literally wherever and back up your phone and all of its data. I am not responsible for data loss.

Step 1. Go to your phone settings. Settings>About Phone>Software Information>Build Number. Tap Build Number quickly a bunch of times until you see a notification that says "You are now a developer" or some shit...

Step 2. Go to Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging and toggle it on.

Step 3. Find a PC and a high-speed data cable. Connect your phone. Pull down the top menu and you should see some sorta notification that asks you what to do when phone is linked to PC via cable and tap the option that says "Transferring Files/Android Auto" so that when you plug in the cable, it's not just serving the purpose of charging only.

Step 4. Go to https://samfw.com. When the page opens, you'll see a search bar at the top asking you for the model number of your phone. The easiest way to get that is to click the USB link to the left of the search bar. And if your phone is correctly in debug mode, your phone will send you a prompt saying something is trying to access your phone, hit yes or whatever. The alternative is to go to Settings>About Phone to look for model number.

When you type in the model number correctly or get it from data cable, there will be a bunch of flags at the bottom of the screen full of your phone's info. And they'll be flags of your country followed by 3 letters of your carrier. I chose TMB (T-Mobile) and I live in USA.

Step 5. Download the CORRECT firmware. The one you want should say February 5th, 2026 bc that's before Samsung patched the FlipFont software apks. Click on it. There are 3 ways to download it. DOWNLOAD IT TO PC NOT PHONE. And choose Download SamFW Server option to download. The file is like 8 to 10 Gb so wait a few minutes.

Step 6: Unzip the files.

Step 7. Disconnect your phone temporarily from data cable.

Step 8: https://xdaforums.com/t/patched-odin-3-13-1.3762572/

Install Odin from the link above. DO NOT Google it and install from first website. I made that mistake and it was adware. Fuck off with that bullshit. Go there. Download the zip. Unzip it. Go to where it says Odin or setup or whatever... Click that. You should see a bunch of Chinese gibberish on a warning screen. Click ok. And you should be in Odin and have Odin opened up.

Step 9. Now. Take the firmware you downloaded from SamFW and extracted. Open up the page and you should see a bunch of random files with 2 letters each. The only ones you're concerned with are AP, BL, CP, and HOME CSC OYN. IGNORE USER DATA unless you have an older model.

Step 10. Open up Odin. And in Odin you will upload the firmware files to the corresponding letters in Odin. Where Odin asks for AP file, browse to where you have that extracted and saved on your PC, and choose AP. Follow the prompts. When you get to CSC OYN, there are two files. Choose the one that says home. Once all of those are loaded Odin will tell you they were all successfully loaded.

Step 11: NOW PUT YOUR PHONE IN DOWNLOAD MODE. But BEFORE YOU DO THAT PUT YOUR PHONE IN MAINTENANCE MODE FIRST. If you do not put your phone in Maintenence Mode, you will be taken to the *incorrect* download mode screen when you try to access it.

Go to Settings>Device Care>Maintenance Mode>Turn On. Follow the prompts, use your biometrics or security to unlock and enable etc etc etc. The phone will restart and go into a screen that says Maintenance Mode in the bottom left corner. Open up the phone and do all that you gotta do to let it load up in maintenance mode. Then when you can, slide down from the top and get to the menu where the power button of your phone is visible and POWER OFF the phone entirely!!!

Step 12. Once the phone is entirely powered off. Hold power on button volume up button and volume down button all simultaneously at the same time. You should keep holding those 3 buttons down all at once until you see an aqua green screen. Then your phone will tell you to push the volume up key to go into download mode.

Step 13. Now with Odin opened, connect your phone to the data link cable. On Odin you should see a log screen with info that says a bunch of stuff like "Added!" blah blah blah. It's indicating it detected something is connected and ready to be flashed with firmware. You might want to google this part because I can't promise you I know whether your phone is connected properly or not. Worst case scenario, your device shouldn't brick. You will just have to take it out of download mode to reconnect properly. That's why I stress to put the phone in maintenence mode first because if you don't the download mode won't take you to the correct screen for flashing!

Step 14. At the bottom, you should see a Start Button. If you loaded everything correctly, with the phone connected, hit the Start Button.

Step 15 Go grab a coffee bc it'll be a minute.

Step 16. If you did everything correctly, your phone will boot up into Android and you'll see your carrier logo etc. Now I was having issues using the touch screen and opening up the phone. And that's bc it needs to be factory reset. So what you're gonna do is hold down the volume up and power keys to power off the phone. Hold them down until the screen goes black. And then you're gonna do that again. And you should get to some page with a console looking screen. That means your phone is in factory reset mode. Use the volume up and down keys to select "Factory reset" and it'll prompt you, are you sure? Hit yes with power key to select. If you did this properly, it'll reboot your phone and fully have it factory reset...

Then there you have it!! Your phone is downgraded

Final steps... Settings>About Phone>Software Information>Build Number> enable Developer Options. Then go to developer options and TOGGLE OFF Auto update system to prevent it from automatically upgrading

In addition to that, I will research the ADB commands I also ran to disable software upgrades. But you should be good to go. If you have Samsung Smart Switch, put all your apps and data back onto your phone. That might take a hot minute though so plan on spending a whole ass day doing this.

Hope that helps.

Ok. I'll start. This is a travesty in my opinion for the choice of Avant Garde Gothic and to pair it with Brush Script MT just makes it do things to my body. Bad things. Can anyone else provide examples of shitty font choices you've seen. Do your worst!!!

I am really kind of over FontLab 8. I don't have a Mac so I can't really use the Glyphs app.

Basically here are all the things I'm trying to accomplish as expediently as possible.

  1. Renaming metadata and resorting fonts that are incorrectly styled. E.G. Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic should all be applied to one font family while all other styles should be named Semibold or Black or Ultra Light etc etc.

  2. I want to quickly swap out glyphs from stylistic sets and replace the original glyphs and have it properly assign the respective Unicode value.

  3. I want to shrink or expand overall size of glyphs. On FontLab I've been using UPM or I've been using the scale feature. But FontLab sucks. I want to shrink a font by 20% or make a condensed font larger, for example...

  4. I occasionally want to take a glyph from another typeface altogether. Like for example, take some glyphs from Georgia and put them in Minion for my own personal use. Not to forge and redistribute. I know that when I use FontLab to apply side bearings and stuff, I'm really just trying to get it to look right but I'm not a perfectionist. I don't want to kern every single letter and spend hours. I just want to take a couple glyphs and replace them with something else.

  5. I don't know the difference between .otf or .ttf. but all I know is that I don't like how FontLab does all of these auto-hinting edits to .ttf files. I want the font file to look as much like the original as possible in both .ttf and .otf formats. I'm more about compatibility...
