Worried my dog’s condition is worse than we know
My dog is a mutt that I adopted over 5 years ago. He’s turning 6 in June and has had a really rough go the last several years.
Had his first TPLO after a traumatic ACL tear to the left hind in February 2024. He recovered wonderfully and we knew that he was likely to tear the other, but not as soon as he did. He had his second TPLO for his right hind in July 2024.
This past summer, he was diagnosed with arthritis after showing signs of limping. We are very on top of his medical care to the point that he’s been going to a rehabilitation center several times a month since his diagnosis. He does chiropractor and underwater treadmill. The team he works with is amazing!
Anyways, he’s been on the mend and really establishing a solid baseline. However, today on a walk, he started limping with lameness to his front left leg.
Some other miscellaneous health info. He’s on a really good diet and maintaining weight. It’s so important to control the amount he eats so we don’t agitate his joints. He’s also on Carprofen (anti-inflammatory) and Cosequin (joint supplement). Fully vaccinated and neutered.
Immediately got him home and called our vet. They had a cancellation, so we have an appointment tomorrow, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s something more serious going on.
I know I could be getting ahead of myself, but has anyone else had a similar experience? We love him more than words can express and just trying to see if there’s anything we could be missing.
