Scheduled Surgery for This Month

My gastro sent me in for a surgical consult after a flare came back a week later with bladder pain and high CRP. Took me by surprise that she said I basically needed the surgery. I scheduled it for asap but have to get all this testing done and hope I can. She said my flares have mostly been in my sigmoid and stayed there and there’s a low chance of a bag, temporary and permanent. I’m really anxious and I guess just looking for advice and support.

Had a flare that required antibiotics, (cipro/flagyll) CRP level came back crazy high though pain had started easing and had to get an emergency cat scan which showed diverticulitis with no perforation or complications. Re-did CRP and this one was closer to normal. Finished antibiotics and stepped into fiber and eating out too quickly, started getting pain again but not unmanageable at home. Had more bladder pain if anything, I know that’s from the proximity. Went back and though I only had remaining bladder pain the CRP was sky high. Liquid diet and went to get re scanned a few days ago. Any remaining pain disappeared aside from some slight urinary symptoms. The scan showed sigmoid colon mural thickening and associated pericolic inflammation, not significantly change. Reactive cystitis with focal bladder wall phlegmon. Doc put me on antibiotics again, 48 hour liquid diet (moxafloxacin/flagyll) and gave me a referral to a surgeon in case and to get familiar with my case I guess. Went to a PCP yesterday and despite the CAT scan, all my results were fine though he did not do a CRP.

I feel like a ticking time bomb from what I looked up about the phlegmon. Although I feel more or less normal I feel like I’m in danger. Any insight?

So two weeks ago I had a flare and was on antibiotics and felt fine afterward aside from some remaining bladder/urinary issues. Then my CRP came back as 104 or something so I had to run to the hospital get a cat scan where they saw diverticulitis and the bladder inflammation but nothing else. I saw my gastro two or three days later and CRP went down to 14. Flash forward to now, been off antibiotics over a week and walked into eating fiber and perhaps a bad meal or not enough hydration. One of those perfect storms and felt some pain but nothing to really make me call and ask for more antibiotics or anything. I then had some bladder pain the next few days until yesterday. The post-hospital visit said to follow up with urology so I made an appointment to be sure, though I know the cause is the diverticulitis. Went to see the gastro today who felt around and said all felt and sounded good, I had no pain aside from some minor constipation and he repeated the CRP. It came back as 164. He doesn’t understand since I’m not doubled over in pain or anything, honestly I feel fine. He told me to take it easy this weekend and keep look out for pain and fever. Does the CRP take a while to catch up? Could this be a remainder of the last pain or flare I had? Or is something else going on?
