I have seen hundreds of comments across social media today with many people celebrating the fact that students got "bumped" with a car. Many saying that they should've been violently run over, even killed, for the offense of standing in the way of a car trying to back up. Many people say "bumping" students with a car is justified if they're in your way and don't respect the danger a car poses. Apparently here at Cornell it is okay to "bump" students with your car. Good to know!
Thousands of people believe running the students over was justified because they were "banging on his windows and threatening his life" which is provably false by the video evidence put out by Cornell itself.
Major news networks maintained this shameful lie that students surrounded his car and were banging on the windows. Cornell put out disinformation to create fake news to protect their leadership from personal criminal liability leading to thousands of people celebrating the violence against students and proclaiming it's perfectly reasonable behavior to wield a car as a weapon against them for the crime of "standing in the way".
Not only is this extremely Trump like, but similar to Trump's conduct, it likely will lead to more harm being done to students and/or Cornell staff and leadership. What happens if a student "bumps" a Cornell employee? Is that okay too? Or is it only okay when the powerful people who are above the law do it?
