These honey bees are native to our region also found in Indian subcontinent and west asia .

A few years ago, these bees had almost disappeared from my region . The main reason was heavy cotton cultivation, which involves intense pesticide use.

Cotton farming has reduced here due to low yields, and with that, pesticide usage has also dropped. As a result Apis florea is slowly reclaiming .I can see a few more colonies every year.

Apis florea is very calm, non aggressive, semi -domesticable…….

Here in this video you can see , an Apis Florea colony on aswgandha plant under a khejri tree in sugercane field.
