Ads getting impressions, but no clicks. What would you fix first?

Hey everyone,

We’re a small software studio focusing on Shopify and our new Shopify app recently passed 10 installs.

For the last 3–4 days, we’ve been running Shopify App Store Ads on the search page. The app is getting visibility, so it is showing up, but so far we haven’t gotten any installs from it. We got just 1 click for it.

A few numbers in case it helps:

  • collection sorting (broad): 71 impressions, 1 click, 1.4% CTR, avg position 3.3, visibility 10.1%, no installs
  • out of stock sorting (broad): 2 impressions, avg position 2.5, no clicks
  • exact match terms like sold out, out of stock, and push sold out products down have had little to no impressions so far
  • most of the keywords are marked high / very high relevance, but the suggested bids on some terms are much higher than what we’re currently bidding

So now I’m trying to understand what usually matters most at this stage.

If you were in this spot, what would you look at first?

My current guesses:

  • our bids are too low on the more competitive terms
  • broad keywords are showing, but not to the right merchants
  • the app card itself isn’t compelling enough to earn the click
  • the listing probably needs stronger screenshots / copy / positioning
  • or maybe installs won’t move much until reviews and social proof are stronger

Would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve gone through this with Shopify App Store Ads.

What ended up making the biggest difference for you? Open for any feedbacks, thanks!

Launched a Shopify app to automatically push sold-out products down in collections

Hey everyone,

I launched Outranked nearly one month ago, a Shopify app focused on one annoying merchandising problem:

sold-out products taking up too much visibility in collections.

A lot of stores handle this manually, or with workflows that still need follow-up when inventory changes again. I wanted something more reliable and collection-specific.

What Outranked does:

  • automatically pushes sold-out products to the bottom of collections
  • lets you control sorting per collection
  • supports tag-based exclusions
  • sends email or Slack notifications after each run
  • Low stock alerts with configurable rules via email and Slack notifications
  • includes analytics, sort history, and CSV exports

I’m especially curious about this from other app devs / Shopify folks here:

When you looked at collection merchandising problems, what edge cases showed up fastest?

Would love honest thoughts on positioning, onboarding, or feature gaps.
