Yes, I don't think the ship name is that original, but it was the first thing that came to mind.
Will's friendship with Daryl and Hannah is one of those that stays with you forever, and that "forever" can be shown in many ways.

You could say the inspiration for the drawing is this scene from The Big Bang Theory.
But the concept of the rings was changed to make them friendship rings (like SpongeBob and Patrick's).
