How far are we, if ever going to be able to change the eye color in adults through methods like gene editing or regenerative therapy?

Can we enduce iris melanin cell turnover at large either naturally or through gene/hormone therapy in an adult? I’ve heard multiple stories about caucasian people having their eyes go from dark brown to green/hazel (not caucasian but wonder what the future holds for anyone that wants to change eye color)

Can future genetic therapy remove existing melanin in the iris at large?

How close are we to be able to change eye color in adults (non artifical implants) ? (i.e. CRISPR, gene editing, stem cell transplant, regenerative therapy, donor iris transplant, etc)

What is the current tech on bioengineered iris? Can we expect natural looking and function irises (both trauma and cosmetic cases)?
