End of an Era.
So this is it. The new update genuinely sucked all of the fun and purpose I found in the app.
I spent the last few hours trying to find a proper way to express this because, honestly, after years on the app, I felt like disappearing silently would’ve been wrong thus, I made this Reddit account just to say goodbye and move on. I think I owe that much both to a few people and to myself.
First things first, no, I am not sharing my handle on the app. I don't find a specific reason to do this. This post isn’t about attention or trying to start drama. My issue is with the app itself, not the community. Plus I don't want anyone to take this as begging for certified tokens. I don't care about them and never will.
I started playing Marvel Topps around the summer of 2022, if I remember correctly, while randomly searching the App Store for card collecting games. I picked Marvel for no particular reason. Simple as that. And then, on the first day alone, I spent hours opening packs, waiting for coins to refresh, spinning wheels, and slowly building a collection from absolutely nothing.
Over the years, I learned trading, values and terminology. But more importantly, I met genuinely kind people who helped me along the way without expecting anything back while even as a completely free-to-play player, I never felt excluded. I also never chased impossible trades or tried to act richer than I was in-game staying within my own limits, which is why after 3–4 years I only ended up with 3 legendaries and one epic set that I worked unbelievably hard for. To be honest the collecting itself was never the whole point, for me. The point was the routine and slowly building something that actually felt personal.
Then came the 2026 update.
Left uncertified because I never paid Topps, locked out from trading and communicating with people I’ve known for years. I never cared about losing access to features or losing “status.” Just losing the ability to just send a random trade for a card I really liked and was missing, seeing the familiar faces where a fair and sure trade was available.
Maybe this sounds dramatic over a card collecting app and again, to be honest, fair enough.
But when you spend years somewhere consistently, even something small becomes part of your routine and your life in a weird way. I don’t hate the game and I don’t regret the time I spent there, but this update made me realize the version of the app I loved simply doesn’t exist anymore.
So I think this is where I leave it.
So, to everyone who traded fairly, helped newer players, or simply made the app feel alive, thank you. Seriously.
You made the experience worth it.
