“Can we have McDonald’s for breakfast?”. “No, we have McDonald’s at Aldi”.
Guys, I’ve got it down to a science! Pictured is a McDonald’s “style“ Egg McMuffin with cheese & added bacon. I normally don’t eat it with added bacon and just eat the sandwich with a sausage patty but I wanted to try things a little different today.
All ingredients are from Aldi but something about aldi’s English muffins and sausage together tastes so familiar to the classic McDonald’s breakfast sandwich.
I used the round fully cooked breakfast sausage patties, English muffin, low sodium bacon, eggs and Happy Farms American sliced cheese.
The key when making your eggs is to fry them on medium to medium-low heat with no butter!! Only use a non stick cooking spray so the eggs won’t be greasy. Cook with the top on the frying pan so the eggs can cook slow and steam which gives the illusion of the perfectly round non-crispy soft McDonald’s egg. When salting your egg, only a dash of salt and a dash of pepper is optional.
When toasting your English muffin in the oven or toaster, leave it bare and do not add any butter to your muffin. This also mimics the McDonald’s sandwich because it’s not greasy. The grease will come from the cheese and the sausage so don’t worry if you think it’ll be dry!
If you happen to make this, please tell me what you think! It’s so good you’ll never want to buy McDonald’s breakfast again!! Ohh and another extra tip….. if you prefer a biscuit instead of an english muffin, Aldi has canned jumbo biscuits and it also tastes just like a McDonald’s sausage biscuit with cheese!!! For the full Mcd combo, crisp up the Aldi hash browns and Aldi orange juice! ENJOY!
