UMN?

Hello, I am an admitted student at both VT and Minnesota. I qualify for in state tuition at MN and these are my best two options but I’m not sure what to do. VT is 60k+ a year which Is a very steep price and UMN is 35k to 40k about that. My plan is to transfer out of UMN after one year but I’m wondering is this a good plan? Are there certain gen eds which have extremely hard curves or not so great prof? I want to know if this is a good idea or not, based on whether it’s easier to get a 4.0 here or elsewhere. I want to transfer into a school like GT or UMich. (engineering)

Rejected from my state school

I’m super frustrated because I was rejected from my state school. I have an insane course load, volunteering, awards, and all of these things and yet I can’t even get accepted into my state school. I’m talking max course rigor, 30+ assignments a week. I did all I could and them not wanting me is such a gut punch, especially because it’s my only chance at staying in state. My state school is one of those schools where ppl from the east and west coast apply in droves because it’s a “public ivy” (prestige) or just for fun, when this university was my chance to save significant money and stay close to home, while for some its just a small option. As well as this, my state only has one big school, not an additional “—state university or —tech”, so I’d have to attend one of the other underfunded schools with significantly less opportunities. I’m grateful for the opportunity to attend college in the first place as it is a huge privilege but I can’t help feeling like a disappointment when I finally thought this was the chance to get rid of the underdog/chip-on-my-shoulder mentality. I could transfer in but why would I waste my time reapplying school that didn’t see my worth even as an in state resident the first time when I gave it my all. Overall, it just makes me feel like less of a person and it reaffirms the belief that I already have about myself, I’m always going to have to work harder to get the short end of the stick.
