Well, I'm a mod now. Welcome, actual humans! Learn about me. And Stop Gen AI!

My old Reddit account was u/CrowgirlC, but I lost my creds for it when I replaced vanilla Android on my Pixel 6 phone with Graphene OS. And I installed Graphene OS to get rid of all traces of Gen AI and other evil Google stuff from my phone.

I'm the founder of Stop Gen AI. https://stopgenai.com

If you go to our website, you will see a whole page dedicated to our media appearances. We also have a blog, merch featuring real human made art and stopgenai.com Iceland hosted email accounts that are completely separate from Big Tech infrastructure (such as AWS, GCP, Azure).

We have a mutual aid fund for people who have lost income and we desperately need to fundraise. Hence the merch. But we are also talking with someone from Tech Workers Coalition about shared funding we can all benefit from.

I am a former cybersecurity professor at OPIT. Former, because I quit my job because they were going to force me to subject my MSc students to Gen AI.

Now I'm really struggling. *I won't be able to pay my rent this month.* So if you can share these links around, I would really appreciate it:

My portfolio of books, blogs, and whitepapers about cybersecurity for tech companies: https://kimcrawley.com

My Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/kimatstopgenai

My successful Kickstarter that is still taking late pledges, $12 USD eBook: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kimcrawley/technofascism-survival-guide/

And of course... https://stopgenai.com

I would like to warmly thank the other mods here. <3

Just now, someone posted a comment here about how "AI is a tool."

All of this "How dare you bash AI, I am a reasonable, sensible centrist from the tech industry, and I say AI has many good uses! Curing cancer! How dare you?!" bullshit is horrifying.

I tried to explain that I speak with computer scientists frequently and we agree that "AI" is just a marketing term.

Tons of things, sometimes innocuous, sometimes useful, have been called "AI" over the decades. Procedural generation. Else/if scripts in video games. Very limited and focused machine learning.

That's not what "Gen AI" is. 100% of Gen AI is bad. Zero exceptions. Every prompt feeds the fascist machine and causes environmental destruction on a dying planet. Plus it gives poor people in neighborhoods near datacenters cancer from polluted air, gives them surprise $5000 electricity bills that they can't pay, and it atrophies your capacity for original thought, bit by bit.

A mod here just got rid of their posts.

Thank you.

For the record, always be firm in your anti Gen AI stance. Never ever entertain this "some AI is good!" bullshit. It's a Trojan horse that makes Sam Altman smile.

Stop Gen AI has upcoming Gen AI avoidance workshops, and a support group for chatbot addicts...

Please share.

Stop Gen AI needs your help.

We have upcoming Gen AI avoidance workshops, and a support group for chatbot addicts that are being planned. We will likely use Jitsi in lieu of Zoom.

We need:

- Someone who has overcome chatbot addiction, to lead our chatbot addict support group. Because it's AA-style, and none of us Stop Gen AI members have ever tried ChatGPT beyond 2022.

- All kinds of people to give us feedback on how we should run our Gen AI avoidance workshops.

- YOU, yes you, to share this and tell people that Stop Gen AI is planning to help them.

You can give us anonymous feedback in seconds from the simple forms on the Stop Gen AI homepage: https://stopgenai.com

We also have all kinds of fundraising for our lost income mutual aid, including original human art merch and stopgenai.com email accounts. https://stopgenai.com/fundraising
