Hello Reddit family, thank you all so much for all the prayers and well wishes, this has been the hardest thing I’ve ever have had to go through in my entire life. Literally the worst experience ever. I appreciate your support and kind words during this time.

Tomorrow makes two weeks post op from my skin graft and the start of my wound vac journey on my butt! Compared to my previous post the wound on my abdomen is significantly thinner/smaller! I do believe that is mostly due to the decrease in swelling. Either way I am really happy about that. I had a one week post op appointment this past Monday and my doctor said my skin graft is completely closed and is healing well. I have a lot of nerve damage and sensitivity in that area and the skin is very tight so I’m still a little hunched over.

In the 6th photo you can see my belly button starting to pop out! I truly thought it was gone! I think as the swelling comes down even more of it will show and the shape will
improve.

My wound vac is doing the darn thing! In two weeks my butt wound has significantly improved! I think by the end of the month it will be closed !! Honestly the most annoying part about the wound vac is having to bring it everywhere with you me, the bathroom, shower, store…you can see the wire sticking out my pants :( it’s exhausting and I can’t wait to get it taken off.

The skin graft donor site is still open and difficult to deal with, it’s super irritated and painful…I’m hoping it will be healed within the next week. Some of my pigmentation has returned so hopefully the scar is not too harsh. A lot of the scabs have fallen off too.

Those weeks in the hospital really gave me a different perspective on life, I could have died!

I will try to answer questions better this time and update again when my skin graft donor site is healed! Thank you again for the love <3 also any advice about scarring is appreciated, I have already started with bio oil, I’m gonna wait a week or two more before I start using scar silicone gel.

Precious update: https://www.reddit.com/r/tummytucksurgery/s/2mtWw75qFW

After 35 days in the hospital I am finally getting discharged today(hopefully) !

I had my skin graft surgery a few days ago to cover the abdomen wound and this is the most pain I’ve ever been through in my life. The donor site is the most painful. I didn’t think they were going to remove that much of my skin. I am nervous and curious about now it looks under the bandage and how it will heal, it looks like a big no to most dresses and skirts for a while!

My abdomen on the other hand looks worse than I thought it would. My wound is still soooo deep, I pray when the swelling goes down and my skin graft fully intergrades it will go down and look better. I don’t even have a belly button.

Now for my left butt cheek, I am now on a wound vac for my butt wound (which I asked for weeks ago) I’m really sad about having to go home with a wound vac, I have no idea how long I will be on it. If the doctors initially listened to me about putting one on I would’ve been alot further in that journey.

Everyday i am crying and asking God, why me? This hasn’t gotten any easier and I am still in so much pain. I wish I could run away from this.

I will update again in a few weeks when my abdomen has healed more and I am off the butt wound vac! I can also update yall on the plans for reconstruction!
