[Shards of the broken glass slipper] Honestly I had it with the constant demonization of Cinderella

Original Cinderella was quite literally *abused* and turned into a servant in her own home, still keeping a good and open heart while being tortured by her abusers. Since when this story of a victim who had nobody to help her has turned into “white lotus crying and poor stepsisters suffering” trope???? And then in those “Cinderella” retellings from the stepsis POV we are simply glazing over Ella’s abuse (when it was in the original story) and she is apparently evil/ignorant now? Way to turn a victim into an abuser just because, and here we are now, with so many opinions that Cinderella was actually evil all along and not a grown woman who beefed with a child along with her two spawns.

Why is it in order to prop up a FL/the stepsister, the OG Cinderella has to be demonized as this sort of manipulative demon when in so many adaptations she was even nice to the stepsisters who treated her terribly???
