Crazy take: the 2010s started on 1 Jan 2010 and ended on 31 Dec 2019
Also, the 2000s started on 1 Jan 2000 and ended on 31 Dec 2009. Because decades are not a real thing, it’s just a category for grouping years by tens, that we just made up for more convenience of analysing time periods.
Seriously, why is this sub so hyper focused on finding alternative ways of splitting time in decades lother than literal decades as if it matters even a bit? Instead of discussing the culture and events that happened within the already existing decades.
Also if we are talking about shifts, they don’t happen in a day. They are not tied to a single movie, album or whatever. Shifts happen gradually, with a lot of overlaps. Any attempt at pointing out an exact moment the shift happened is stupid and simplistic.
Yes, there are things like world wars, pandemics etc but they have nothing to do with decades and decadology at all.
