New pain 18 months after L5-S1
I am roughly a year and a half out of L5 S1 lumbar fusion. Everything has been going fine until today. At my last x-ray, the surgeon saw evidence that I had fused. But today I lifted a box that wasn’t too heavy, but I must’ve twisted in a strange way because I felt a really painful twinge in the left butt where one of the giant screws is in the hip. That area had been giving me problems for almost a year. The surgeon did a CT scan and saw a bit of a halo around that screw but it wasn’t that bad. My surgery was so extensive he said it would be a bad idea to go in and try and pull out that screw or replace it. Eventually, the pain went away, but today it came back after I lifted that box weirdly. I also have osteoporosis in the hip so now my mind is racing with all sorts of terrible scenarios that the screw either broke or came loose or something fractured in the hip because of the osteoporosis. I’m spiraling and it would just help if someone said I might be OK.
Some days this is just so miserable.☹️
