First-time watchers on this sub

Are there people here who are currently in the midst of watching the show for the first time scrolling aimlessly through new posts this sub? I feel like that’s not a good idea if you want to avoid spoilers. Someone just posted about something that happened in season 8 and one of the comments said that there should have been a spoiler warning. Season 8 wrapped up four years ago…I don’t think it’s fair to expect people to put a spoiler warning on their posts about it. Honestly, given that the show ended three years ago, I don’t think any post needs to have a spoiler warning. The show is long since over, and I feel like any new watchers should now scroll at their own risk.

Whenever I pick up a new show that’s been over for years, I do my best to avoid its subreddits at all costs in order to avoid spoilers. If I’m absolutely itching for to see what people were/are saying about a particular character or storyline, I search the sub with as much specificity as possible in my search terms and try to look for posts that were posted around the same time as when the episode I’m currently on aired. And if something gets spoiled, well that’s on me and no one else for coming to a forum where people are discussing something from years past (it happened to me while I was watching the Americans for the first time and I was so mad at myself lol).

I see a lot of requests for spoiler tags on posts and comments on this sub. I’ve even seen it for posts about things that happened as early as season *two*. I feel like it’s unreasonable to expect people to put spoiler tags on anything at this point. If people do put spoiler tags on something, then it should be appreciated as a generous gesture. But it shouldn’t be an expectation. The show has been over for years; people talking about it should be able to talk about it freely.
