Why do iPhone Mirroring photos turn green and not pitch black? (shoutout to Xbox btw)

I was about to launch Swinsian to manage my iPod Classic and it just showed up in finder normally (no infinite loading). I thought 4th Gen and older iPods weren't supported on modern macos since like catalina or whatever, but now on tahoe it seems to recognize it immediately. How?
