how do i actually get good at gaming, at all?
Hi, i've been gaming ever since i was around 4-5. But the longer i've been playing games, the more i realize i kinda really super suck. whether that be pvp, pve, puzzle, management, shooter, etc. The only games that i manage to actually play well are games that don't necessarily need skill like sandbox or games that are meant to be as approachable as possible. One can only play so much of Minecraft or purely sandbox games. And even minecraft can sometimes be a little bit of a struggle. The more exciting parts at least.
i love gaming and it means so much to me, but sucking at one of the only things i've loved since birth feels kind of demoralizing. No matter how much i play games (days, weeks, months) i never get better past a certain skill level and usually only progress through cheesing my way through, which of course isn't always fun. I can understand mechanics, learn about how the game works, i can learn essentially anything i need to know. But applying it? nope.
No matter how much i practice, it never seems to improve. I get the occasional good run, but that's about it. Gaming is one of the few things i can come home to to destress and one of the few things that excite me. But when you're as bad as me in essentially all games that stop at a skill level where you have trouble going "I'm finally improving!", which to me is the entire allure, it tends to suck the fun out of everything.
If anyone has any tips, i would love to hear them. In advance, Thank you.
