I’m a long time Red and Canon user and just tried out a ZR on a shoot. I’m blown away by the camera and how much use I’d get out of it but the only thing holding me back from getting one is the lack of compression ratios for R3D.
Most of what I shoot with my Reds I dial up the compression apart from very certain jobs that require VFX or will need heavy Denoise work.
Especially in today’s landscape with storage becoming more expensive by the day I don’t think I’d buy a ZR unless they can add compression for raw into it. If they did I might buy 2.
Do we think this is on Nikons roadmap? My fear is that Nikon won’t add the raw compression to either segment people into buying an actual Red or a future release.
