I’ve been exploring a small SaaS idea and wanted to get some feedback.
I kept running into the same thing with PDF tools — you just want to do something simple like fill a form or tweak some text, and you get pushed into signup/subscriptions 😅
So I tried a different approach: no signup, no subscription, just upload → edit → download.
There’s always a first download free, and after that the idea is a simple pay-once model instead of subscriptions.
Still early and figuring things out, but curious if this model makes sense or if people just stick with existing tools.
Would appreciate any thoughts.

I would like to share my experience with online PDF editors. I was always frustrated with those “free PDF editors” which on every Download button click hit me with subscriptions, account creations, trials, etc etc 😅 I actually one time fell for it and paid for it because I needed to edit some PDF asap (in my case it’s mostly just filling forms and actually editing text inside PDFs, nothing too fancy), and of course I forgot to cancel the subscription…
So I was always fine with paying for something, but don’t bother me with subscriptions, plans, emails, accounts, promo emails — I just don’t care about it 🙂
Sooo I decided to develop my own PDF editor called Doqly.
It is still in beta and free to use, but my main idea is simple: no subscriptions, no accounts, just upload → edit → download. Later it would be pay for one use (that one use actually includes a 60-minute session so you can iterate over your file or even multiple files, I don’t care if you think you’re cheating 😄) or a 24h day pass if needed.
Note that it’s still in beta and under development, and I’m still rethinking pricing and costs.
So please I would really like to hear your honest opinion — does this idea even make sense? What annoys you the most with current PDF tools?
