Possible fake reviews in Marseille restaurants? My experience
I just wanted to share something that happened to me in Marseille as a heads-up. I noticed a lot of restaurants there have extremely high ratings (like 4.8–4.9), which seemed a bit suspicious. We ended up at one of these places and it was honestly terrible — empty restaurant, poor food, bad service. After leaving, I posted an honest negative review on Google. Within about 10 minutes, I saw around 20 new 5-star reviews suddenly appear for that same place. It felt very unnatural and made me question how many of these ratings are genuine. Not saying this applies to every restaurant, but it definitely made me more cautious. If you’re visiting, it might be better to ask locals for recommendations instead of relying only on online reviews. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
