Apparently my desk needed traffic management

Apparently my desk needed traffic management

I realized most desk organizers are either:

- too small

- too bulky

- impossible to reconfigure

- or just aesthetic filament traps

So I made a modular angled organizer for the stuff I actually use daily:

- markers

- pens

- precision tools

- hobby knives

- rulers

- notebooks

- small accessories

The angled layout ended up being surprisingly useful because everything stays visible instead of disappearing into deep vertical containers.

Also:

less desk chaos = more actual work getting done.

Probably.

Printed as a compact modular system so sections can evolve depending on your setup.

Now I’m curious:

what’s the most overcrowded area on your desk right now?

Dial Indicator for the Anycubic Kobra S1 Max — V01 and Magnetic V02

I designed two Dial Indicator Mount versions for the Anycubic Kobra S1 Max to make bed flatness inspection and first-layer calibration much more precise.

After fighting inconsistent first layers on larger prints, I realized that automatic leveling can hide a lot of mechanical issues.

So I started experimenting with physical verification using a dial indicator.

That led to these two versions:

V01

https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/Dial%20Indicator%20Mount%20for%20Anycubic%20Kobra%20S1%20Max/298381.html?trackModuleType=10

- mounts directly onto the original print head cover

- lightweight and simple

- fast installation

- no permanent modification

V02

https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/Dial%20Indicator%20Mount%20V02%20for%20Anycubic%20Kobra%20S1%20Max/298414.html?trackModuleType=10

- fully replaces the original print head cover

- integrated magnetic mounting system

- cleaner OEM-style integration

- improved rigidity and repeatability

- requires:

- 2x magnets 5x3 mm

- 2x magnets 4x3 mm

I mainly use them for:

- bed tramming

- bed flatness inspection

- first layer tuning

- gantry verification

- diagnosing print inconsistencies

Honestly, it changed how I calibrate the machine.

Mesh compensation is useful… but seeing the REAL mechanical state of the printer with a dial indicator is something else entirely.

I’m curious how other Kobra S1 Max owners handle calibration:

Do you fully trust automatic leveling, or do you also manually verify bed flatness?

I’ll add the MakerOnline links in the comments once the models are published.

Anyone running an Ace Pro 2 at 1.5–2m distance from the Kobra S1? Looking for real-world feedback

I’m considering moving my Ace Pro 2 around 1.5–2 meters away from my Anycubic Kobra S1 to improve workspace layout and reduce noise/heat near the printer.

Before I start extending the PTFE tubes, I wanted to ask if anyone here is already running a similar setup.

Main things I’m wondering about:

Any feeding issues with longer PTFE tubes?

More failed filament swaps?

Increased friction or under-extrusion?

Problems with TPU or softer materials?

Need for larger inner diameter PTFE?

Any firmware/calibration tweaks required?

I mainly print PLA and PETG, but I’d also like to occasionally use ABS and ASA.

Would really appreciate photos, tube lengths, or lessons learned before I turn my setup into a spaghetti-powered science experiment.

I designed a simple charcoal filter insert that fits directly into the existing airflow path.

No crazy mods, no wires, no extra fans.

Just:

  • print it
  • add activated carbon
  • install

What surprised me:

  • noticeable reduction in odor after just one print
  • airflow still strong (no choking the fan)
  • super easy to swap

I tried to keep the design clean and functional, not just something that looks cool but does nothing.

I attached some photos of the setup + the printed parts.

If anyone is dealing with the same issue, this might help.

I uploaded the model here:

Anycubic Kobra S1 Max Charcoal Filter Upgrade

Curious if others are running filters or just venting outside?

After a few weeks of running the Kobra S1 Max heavily, I realized something:

The printer is powerful, but the stock setup leaves performance on the table.

Instead of random small tweaks, I decided to approach it as a system redesign.

Here is what I focused on:

  1. Structural stability
  2. Controlled waste handling
  3. Improved air filtration
  4. Smarter filament routing

I designed and tested a modular upgrade path.

STRUCTURAL RIGIDITY

I built a heavy-duty structural riser specifically designed for proper AcePro2 integration.
The goal was mechanical stability, not aesthetics.

––––––––

AIR FILTRATION

I redesigned the carbon filter box to make it reusable and easier to maintain.
Less odor, better airflow management, long-term cost reduction.

––––––––

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Ramp system for cleaner purge control:
https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/Kobra%20S1%20Max%20Ramp%20%26%20Waste%20Bin%20%E2%80%93%20Magnetic,%20Clean%20%26%20Easy%20to%20Install/268852.html?trackModuleType=10

Dedicated waste bin collector:
https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/Kobra%20S1%20Max%20Combo%20%E2%80%93%20Waste%20Bin%20%2F%20Poop%20Chute%20Collector/268641.html?trackModuleType=10

No more scattered purge piles behind the printer.

––––––––

FILAMENT CONTROL

8+1 Filament Hub for multi-input setups:
https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/8%20%2B1%20in%201%20Filament%20Hub-replacemant%20part%20for%20Anycubic%20Kobra%203%20%2F%20Kobra%203v2%20%2F%20S1%20Combo%20%2F%20%20S1%20Combo%20Max/267225.html?trackModuleType=10

Compact 4-in-1 version:
https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/4%20in%201%20Filament%20Hub%20-%20replacemant%20part%20for%20Anycubic%20Kobra%203%20%2F%20S1%20Combo%20%2F%20%20S1%20Combo%20Max/178820.html?trackModuleType=10

Fewer routing issues, fewer interruptions.

––––––––

Recommended upgrade order if you are running a stock S1 Max:

  1. Structural riser
  2. Waste system
  3. Filtration
  4. Filament hub

Everything was tested in real-world usage, but every setup is different, so adjust to your configuration.

If you are running an S1 Max, I would genuinely like feedback.
What is your biggest limitation with this machine right now?
