Stress test with PsA: 5hrs sleep, guests, no flare. HRV held at 83ms.
Counseling was helpful. Processing old trauma moved my baseline Heart Rate Variability from 20-40ms to 40-60ms. My thrice-a-week migraine and GERD stopped showing up for me.
But psoriasis and joint stiffness remained.
As I watched my HRV, data gathered. Things improved until one night: black pepper chicken rice at 9pm. Bed after 11:30pm. Scrolled my phone because I was 'digesting'.
3am: Itchy scalp. Scratching. Morning: pillow looked like snowfall. Flakes everywhere. Sleep HRV: 32ms. Left knee with psoriatic arthritis was stiff. Variance is data.
Next day I changed 3 things:
- Dinner before 6:15pm.
- 70% full — agak-agak kenyang.
- Bed after 3 hours. 5 minutes of breathing practice before sleep.
I slept 7 hours like a baby. No 3am wake. No itch. Sleep HRV: 68ms. Left knee 50% less stiff. Scalp calm. No tightness.
Next night: 46ms. Still better than baseline. Left knee moved freely. Zero stiffness.
No miracle cream. No rheumatologist. Just my nervous system. In 48 hours.
For me, psoriasis flares AND joint stiffness tracked my nervous system. Low HRV nights = attack mode. High HRV nights = repair mode. I didn't fix skin or joints. I turned the alarm off.
Low HRV = Fire alarm is ON. You can’t moisturize or inject your way out of a fire alarm.
My baseline was 20-40ms. Goal: tomorrow +5ms.
No cream or biologic worked while my alarm was ON. Had to turn it off first.
9th May 2026 Sleep HRV Average: 134ms, Peak 203. Scalp psoriasis not all gone. But no new flares and flaking reduced by more than 75%. Knee stiffness: 100% gone on high HRV nights. Zero lock-up at 3am.
Stress test 10th May: Guests, 5hr 24min sleep, routine broken. Sleep HRV 84, 110, 56. No 3am wake. No knee stiffness. No flakes.
