22F on 10mg adderall for the first time

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, I was prescribed 10mg of adderall once a day for 2 weeks then he’ll put me on it twice a day. I was taking atomoxetine but wasn’t working for me after 2 months.
I’m 5’7 195 lbs I’m a big girl, the medicine does have some effect on me as I’m able to stay much more focused at my job, but it wares off so quickly. If I take it at 10am it’s worn off by 2pm.
I want to take another when this happens because it feels like such a tease feeling normal then all of a sudden going back to how I was before.
I’m struggling even more knowing that the first 2 hours I’m great then suffering the rest of the day.

He gave me extras but I don’t want to abuse them as addiction is extremely heavy in my family and I’m already addicted to nicotine.

Does anyone have any advice for me?
I was thinking in 2 weeks to ask him for vyvanse as I’ve heard it lasts the whole day, but I’m just feeling hopeless at this point because it’s almost 2pm and I know I’ll feel scatter brained in an hour
