For cultural discussion purposes
I recently broke up with my Egyptian ex boyfriend and I want to shed light on some of our issues. Where do I begin? We met online and have been talking for a year. I’ve met his family online and I have introduced some of mine. We called everyday and he has been a great support system, plus I like the idea of being traveled to or traveling to see someone lol. What’s life without whimsy.
Okay to cut the long story short, he is an extreme homophobe which we have discussed at length for I have a lot of gay friends. Last week we went to Boracay and some of my gay friends danced sensually around me as I was sleeping on a boat party 😂 I sent him photos of the party and he got so upset about the video. He insisted that their “private parts” were grinding on me although that did not happen plus my gay friends would cringe on that thought. Anyways it was such a big deal to him and I even apologized that he felt disrespected about that. After a few minutes, he started to message me along the lines of “I don’t care what you do with your body. I don’t care and you can fuck as many gays as you want…” etc etc. Tbh I didn’t even read the message. I was just surprised about how he was berating me and insulting me as if I had sex with a gay dude. Gosh.
We broke up after that as I couldn’t fathom the idea of someone trying to hurt me on purpose for something I wasn’t even in control of. I think this post is to ask about your perspective on cultural differences regarding men/women relationships and gay perspectives in Egypt.
