For those of you who told me to finish the last two books… I’m trying 😭 but Charlaine is already working my nerves and I’m only on chapter 2 of Dead Ever After.

First off, I’m glad I finished Dead Reckoning. I actually loved getting more Alcide in the storyline (the show did him so dirty lol), but I still had some serious WTF moments.

Like… all of Sookie’s fairy cousins trying to hook up with her?? I understand they’re fairies and supposedly don’t follow human norms, but WHY was this brought up so many times?? It just felt unnecessary and honestly weird. I was also happy to see Claude go because he annoyed me just as much as he annoyed everyone in the book.

Now jumping into the last book, I’m already frustrated with Sookie. How does she not realize Eric is upset that she used her wish on Sam? I get that she’s in her late 20s and doesn’t have much dating experience, but she’s read tons of romance novels and has been through enough at this point to have some emotional awareness.

Like… girl, are you really that oblivious?

She’s seen firsthand how serious vampire contracts are, how political everything is, and how little freedom they actually have. But she still expects Eric to just… get out of it somehow? It feels less like naivety and more like straight-up ignorance at this point. It also comes off kind of selfish.

Maybe I’m biased because I’m Team Eric, but the way this is being set up is making me question everything. Are we really supposed to think Sookie and Sam are the better choice??

Anyway… I’m glad there are fewer “Beel” moments lol, but somehow Sookie is frustrating me even more now.

Alright, rant over. Let me see if I can make it to chapter 3 😂

Should I keep reading the books

I want to start off by saying I’m not a fang banger—I’m a vamp tramp LOL 😂

I LOVE Trueblood! I watched it when it first came out, then did a full rewatch during COVID. Now I try to rewatch it every other year—it’s wild how well it still holds up.

But this year I decided to finally read the books, and honestly… I think I like book Sookie more than TV Sookie. Especially since she dates Eric and Bill isn’t as front-and-center LOL. That said, she still gets on my damn nerves.

I’ve got two books left, and yes—I already know she ends up with Sam 🤢. So now I’m wondering… is it even worth finishing? Because Claude and the whole fae storyline are giving major creepy vibes, and while Sookie is less annoying than on the show, she’s still pretty annoying AF.

Do I push through or just call it here?
