Hello Grenoble! I'm a German student arriving this fall for an exchange semester at Sciences Po Grenoble and I have absolutely no idea what I signed up for.
What I know so far: it's in the Alps, it rains a lot, and the French apparently take their cheese very seriously. That's about it.
What I'd love to know from people who actually live there:
How's the city in general - is there stuff to do or will I spend six months staring at mountains wondering why I didn't go to Paris?
How's Sciences Po Grenoble? Any tips for surviving it as a foreigner who will definitely embarrass himself in French seminars?
Are the locals friendly or will I be permanently identified as "the German guy who doesn't understand the bus system"?
Any tips, warnings, restaurant recommendations or general life advice welcome. I promise I will try to learn enough French to order coffee without causing a diplomatic incident.
