Legolas: Does anyone find it sad....

Artwork by Rin

This piece of art always hits me, depicting Legolas at Aragorn's funeral.

It got me thinking how sad it must had been for Legolas after the war. He denied the call of the sea to see through Aragorn's reign. He watched him age and die. He watched the rest of the Fellowship age (and ultimately die), as well as Eomer, Faramir etc.

Whilst he restored Ithilien and then set sail with Gimli to the underlying lands, Gimli would also eventually pass away. He would then be the only living member of the Fellowship left (not including Gandalf who isn't a person per se).

I wonder how he would remember them, if he wrote songs so their memories would never fade away.

Or maybe he found a nice wife and had some little elves 🤷‍♀️
