Game Discussion #82 - Kirby Super Star
I love this one! Eight games! What a deal! And they’re all pretty good to boot. This is another one I’d recommend everyone play.

Dillinger built this Grid in a CAVE! With a box of SCRAPS!
Definitely superior to the first game, but I also haven’t played this one. I really should when I have the time.
Another Japan-only release. Being an early Famicom game, it’s not very complex, so there’s not much to this one besides driving around a car and collecting things.
A side-scrolling action game with an awesome soundtrack, typical of Sunsoft games at this time. It was originally made as a Terminator game, but they lost the license, so made something original instead.
Another Japan only release. It’s a turn-based military strategy game, meant for competition between two players. You build weapons and try attacking the other player’s base with them. A lot more can be said of its eventual successor, Advance Wars.
If you remember, a few weeks ago I posted an image of my Mii for the MCP that I did in Tomodachi Life, saying that I’d never actually watched the movies and only knew it from Kingdom Hearts. Since everyone in the comments told me to watch it, I decided to do that tonight.
I don’t have much to say on it, but despite the entirety of the movie being mostly incomprehensible gibberish that barely had its plot together, I loved it. Maybe I like it when movies aren’t afraid to be overly experimental and go all out with trying to make something work. For the time it released, I’d imagine these special effects were great.
Also, Dumont has a really stupid outfit with hands coming out of where his nipples should be. End of line.
We’re back to NES games. For now, we’ll be alternating between NES and SNES releases for these discussion threads.
I haven’t played much of Crystalis but I really want to play more of it. It’s a fun take on the popular Zelda-style formula of the time.
Again, it’s basically just tennis, with some cool graphical showcase effects.
To me this just seems like a pretty average soccer game, with some interesting graphical showcases of Mode 7. Unfortunately, you can’t play this game on NSO any more, as it was removed for copyright concerns, making it one of the few delisted titles.
For an SNES game released in the early 90’s, this game NAILS the horror atmosphere. I haven’t finished it yet, but my favorite part of it is that vibe it gives.
This is another really good-looking SNES game…and by far its gameplay is the best out of anything in its spinoff series as well.
This game’s a classic even today. I loved my playthrough of it.
While not the best Mario Kart by any means, this one is still an enjoyable time…from the perspective of no other Mario Kart games existing, that is. Whenever I go back and play this on Switch, I’m always tempted to just play Mario Kart World instead.
Woooo!! Yeah!! 69!!!
This game is hard to the point that even though it looks good I ultimately don’t care much…could never beat the first stage.
Anyway, you may have noticed I hadn’t posted for a few days. This is because after my review of Super EDF, where I said I didn’t care about it much, the surprisingly high number of fans of that game locked me in an empty room and forced me to beat the game. My opinion didn’t change much, but ultimately they respected that I at least gave it a chance and let me go.
So if I’m ever not posting for a while, just assume a similar thing happened to me.
To be honest, I’ve never gotten into this one. It just seems like a pretty standard shooter.
Even though this game is generally overshadowed by Star Fox, I’ve always liked it. The racing feels very bouncy and fluid, and the cars come off as very animated and fun despite not even being characters. Definitely give this one a shot if you haven’t yet.
I haven’t seen this movie, but having recently played through Kingdom Hearts II and its Space Paranoids portion, I got the inspiration to make this after joking about it with my sister (Given he’s just a giant face). Figured you guys would appreciate it.
This is one of those games where its reputation precedes it. Even today, I love how the Super FX 3D looks. It’s a good time.
