Spring thaw brought the damp musty smell back... what humidity target actually works for your basement?

So basically the snow finally melted a couple weeks ago and that signature damp, musty smell is back in my basement. I was down there sorting through some storage bins yesterday and you could just feel the moisture hanging in the air. everything smells slightly 'off'. i recently plugged in a keepglad dehumidifier down in the corner. managed to route the hose right into the floor drain so I dont have to constantly go down there to empty a bucket which is nice tbh. it has a setting to punch in an exact target humidity percentage, but idk what number actually works to kill that old basement smell. I really don't wanna run up my electric bill making the machine run 24/7 if I dont have to. is 50% low enough to keep things smelling fresh and stop mold, or do I need to drop it down to 40%? what setting actually works for u guys to keep the mustiness away?
