Fostering 2 week old refused to eat
Help. And hello. The question is around feeding a kitten who is very feisty doesn't want to eat. And at what point is it a danger and I should really freak out versus it just kind of being okay.
For context, I got two kittens to Foster when they were one week old they were only 100 G each after 4 days the little guy was only 104 G and the girl was 113 G. I was not okay with his progress so took him back and they tube fed him for another 4 days and he didn't make it. The little girl however is now over 140 g's and they sent her back home with me. They said she ate 7 ml at 11:30 a.m. and when I tried to feed her again at 1:30 p.m. she refused. I tried again 30 minutes later and again and again and she refused every time. She probably took about 3 to 4 mls during that time and it's more 5:30.
I took her back and had the Foster Center try to feed her and she also didn't want to be fed but they said since she's so feisty about it, it's not an emergency and to try again in an hour.
I'm just wondering why she was eating great with them and great with me before and now she just refuses and if I should panic after an hour or two hours or 5 hours. I know I'm not supposed to force feed her and probably don't want to attempt to get her to eat too many times while she's fighting me because then she'll just gets an aversion to it.
I want to attend to her but I'm also not sure if I should back off a little or what.
She's 2 weeks old, eyes open, 140g.
