A bit of an odd question. I adore rabbits, and would like to create a soft mount of a lovely bunny as my next taxidermy project.

Do any folks in this group skin their rabbits fully, to include the legs, feet, toes, lips and eyelids? If so, I'm after adult bunnies and/or any failure-to-thrive kits or youngsters.

I don't want to have an animal dispatched just for it's fur, but since you folks process them anyways for food, I figured this might be a good place to ask, since your want to keep them healthy and cared for when raising them for meat. 🥹

So if any of you do skin and tan any for taxidermy I would be super interested in buying from ya to make use of their fur and turn them into something cuddly and preserve the fur they grew! 🥹✨.

TYPO: Progress Pics!

I'm just so happy with how this guy is coming along for my first ever taxidermy mount project.

The face is a bit cartoony, because he'll be a soft mount I'll be keeping for myself, so I'm not really stressing too much over realism, moreso aiming for a jolly cuddly companion to take with me to the Ren faire!

Things I'll do next time:

- Bondo for the ears. Using plastic ear liners, it's tough to cut the back of the head form, so these ears probably sit up a bit higher than they ought to, but that's okay. I don't mind him looking a bit stylized.

- Overall, possibly aim for sight realism. But, we'll see. I really like his mischievous animated look.

I want to try a fox next.

Stuff left to do:

- Sculpt the paws

- Hind leg armature

- Sewing

- Stuffing

- Paint work

Purchased this mountable coyote from a seller on Etsy. I've always wanted a soft mount and while I have made plushies and done lots of sculpting, I figured I might as well give this a try.

This coyote isn't entirely realistic. Mostly I'm just sculpting what I find aesthetically pleasant, so the eye brows may be a bit "cartoonish". But, I'm having fun.

An experienced taxidermist friend has been ultra kind in sharing tips, resources, and critique!

Can't wait to do the paws.
