Now I can finally share the news

Franny made it to the US! And she crossed the border successfully — everything is okay.

Unfortunately, it turned out that bringing Franny to Norway was no longer possible. So together with her Norwegian adopter, we found her a home in the US instead.

The situation is what it is. Some parts of this journey are heartbreaking, and some are incredibly happy. I feel so relieved and happy that Franny made it across the border safely. I’m sad that it only happened on the second attempt, and ended up being to a different country.

Right now Franny is in New York. She’ll still need to travel to another state, but at least it’s not another international move anymore — much simpler, you know.

Franny is truly a little traveler. And I really hope that very soon I’ll be able to share photos of her finally being home.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this adventure. Truly, from the bottom of my heart.

New photos

Franny will stay with me for another 5 days. So far, she’s feeling pretty good)

If only she knew how many people are following her journey and waiting for the moment she finally gets home.

In five days, I really hope I’ll be able to give you all a happy update. For now, we’re just preparing)

Hi everyone!
We’re currently preparing to send Franny home :)

I won’t go into details about what exactly we’re planning just yet — every time I say one thing, something else happens, and I end up feeling kinda silly lol

For now, Franny is safe, warm, and well taken care of 🤍

Franny is not home in Norway yet. She was turned back at the border, as I wrote before, and placed in a quarantine zone. Norway has very strict rules for bringing animals into the country, and unfortunately it didn’t work out this time. The border officers also made things worse — they said they would euthanize the cat and issue a $4000 fine.

For four days I was constantly on the phone, and her owner was too. We fought to get Franny back, to make sure nothing would happen to her, and to ensure that all countries would allow her through on the way back. I spent a significant amount of money contacting different countries — Norway, Germany, Turkey, and others — where different airlines were involved, just to understand the rules for animals being deported back.

I cried, I had breakdowns, I stayed calm, I kept calling. The owner called, went to offices, and did everything she could.

Today Franny returned to me safe and sound. A woman from the quarantine zone said that she is a very good cat and that she liked her, but unfortunately they couldn’t let her through. So now we are looking for other options.

Thank you all for your donations and support. I’m not asking for financial help right now, because our first donations were essentially wasted. The owner and I will try to cover everything ourselves this time, and only as a last resort I will ask for help again.

Franny went through a very difficult journey, and so did we — mentally.

The most important thing is that neither I nor the owner are giving up on Franny. We are looking for fully legal and reliable ways to get her to her owner, so that everything goes smoothly and Franny can finally be home.

Unfortunately, Norway did not allow Franny to enter

Katarzyna will return to Georgia with Franny on April 20, and a week later Catherine, her owner, will come to pick her up. In this situation, she truly showed that she will never abandon Franny and handled everything like a tiger.

I’m crying, but it’s good that there is always a plan B.

Katarzyna came to pick her up yesterday, and we completed all the necessary documents, including the export certificate.

Tonight is the big moment — Franny’s flight to Norway is scheduled for 3 AM (Tbilisi time, April 16).

She’s finally on her way home ✈️

There are 6 days left until our girl is finally home.

Norway has very strict rules when it comes to bringing animals into the country, so I’ve been a bit anxious about whether I’ve done everything correctly. But I’ve consulted with several veterinarians, and everything should be in order.

The only thing left is to get the final departure certificate a day before the flight — and then she can finally fly home 🤍

We did it! 💛

We’ve raised the full amount for Franny’s journey!

We were just $20 short specifically for the final vet check before the flight — but her future owner kindly covered that part herself.

Everything is now fully ready for Franny to go home ✈️

Thank you all so much for your support, kindness, and for being part of this journey. Truly — we couldn’t have done this without you 🤍

We actually managed to stay well below the amount we originally expected — and it’s a really good thing I booked everything in advance and we found this out now!

This is great news 🤍

To avoid waiting and missing good ticket prices — and more importantly, to secure a spot for a pet on the flight — I went ahead and booked everything.

The tickets were purchased using the donations we’ve already received, and Franny’s future owner kindly covered her ticket as well.

Costs so far:

  • Escort ticket: $240
  • Franny’s ticket: €65

I was also able to find a carrier suitable for the flight through a volunteer chat here in Batumi.

What’s left:

  • Veterinary certificate: 150 GEL (~$55 / ~€50)
  • Pre-flight clinic check: 150 GEL (~$55 / ~€50)

We kindly ask for your help 🤍

Franny’s future owner didn’t expect to suddenly have to cover so many expenses — especially since she still needs to buy everything Franny will need once she arrives. I’ll share photos and videos when Franny gets home.

As for me — I’ve been covering rescue-related expenses for almost a year together with my friend, and I’m reaching my limit. I’m also preparing to move to another country soon, and I have my own cat and dog to take care of.

It’s been a lot, honestly.

If you’re able to support us, even a small amount makes a real difference. Thank you so much 🤍

Update:

Goal is $800 — we’ve raised $187 via Buy Me a Coffee and $160 via PayPal.

That leaves $453 still needed.

I also wanted to answer a few common questions:

Here’s the rough breakdown of the $800 goal:

• Carrier (travel crate)
• Vet check a few days before departure to make sure she’s stable enough to travel (she’s FIV+ and we have to be very careful with stress)
• Health certificate for international travel
• Flight ticket for Franny
• Flight ticket for a companion (sending her via cargo would be extremely expensive and much more stressful for her — flying with a person is both safer and significantly cheaper)

In total, we expect it to be around $600, but we added an extra $200 as a buffer in case of any unexpected costs or price changes.

If there are any funds left over after covering Franny’s travel, they will be donated to help another animal in need through the Rescue Cats community, who made this fundraiser possible 🤍

Franny’s future owner is contributing and sharing the fundraiser on her side, but so far it hasn’t brought much in.

She’s also ready to cover whatever remains if needed — but this situation came unexpectedly. She didn’t go looking for a cat; it was a match that just happened. Now she’s facing not only travel costs, but also all the initial expenses of bringing Franny home.

So any help we can provide here truly makes a difference 🤍
