ABC was not expecting this..

Edit : SBS not ABC

In my diverse circle of friends, this is hitting hard! Good on ya immigrant Ronil!

I wonder whether a small minority would not consider him "Aussie" given wasn't "born and bred" here.

Career crossroads - where to pivot?

I am at a career crossroads. I’m 40, Sydney based, balancing a young family and a $1M mortgage. My wife works in management, and I currently earn $160k plus super and bonuses in a hybrid compliance role.

My background is in state law enforcement investigations, and currently averaging 50 hours across six days and finding it hard to disconnect.

I have a strong liking for building systems and hands-on problem solving and usually building/fixing something around the house.

While these interests led me to mid-level compliance management, I have little interest in upper management, which I find to be a bureaucratic "talk fest."

If I could start over, I would have studied engineering; instead, I chose accounting. I feel the logical next step is forensic accounting. However, I am interested to know if there are other fields worth considering if we were to consider moving to QLD.

Thanks in advance
