Go ahead, roast me.

Hi lads, just turned 30. I know, quite late to the party but I started investing into Stocks and ETFs 8 months ago. The 2025 bullish AI & Gold run FOMO had me finally breaking my 7 year procrastination.

My initial strategy was to hold 50% Long term and 50% Short term(1-2 years); after the ST 1-2 years or 50% return target (whichever comes first) is reached I would then take this profit and reinvest into Themetic ETFs or VOO.

For LT, I bought ASX Gold ETFs and NZX Dividend Stocks.

For ST, I needed max profit in a short time so I bought some high risk, high reward US stocks.

I have learnt a lot since and have started trying swing trading and leveraged bull ETFs on another platform and do a bit here on Sharesies too.

My question to you is, should I continue down this naive path or Who am I kidding? Just put it all into VOO and call it a day?

TLDR: Invested for 8 months, turned 30. Gained only 3% as of today. Strategy to hold 50/50 long term & short term stocks and put short term big gains into long term to maximise capital. Is it sound strategy or just chuck em all into VOO DCA and look at it when I turn 70?

Any advice is truly appreciated! Cheers
