Is non-legion champ Ctene (or beyond) mules worth the investment if my ultimate goal is meso?

Looking at how frequent we will be getting SSF, I was wondering if its ideal if we make more Ctene mules moving forward. But the cost of making one kinda scares me. Given how meso-draining it can be.

Or am I better off be content with weaker mules and just wapping with 290+ symbols for meso.
