I say this as someone who wants to be liberated from the miserable plane of existence that I’m subjected to. I say this as someone who knows that nobody will successfully demonstrate the existence of free will within a human, yet I still open myself up to witnessing the attempts.

I see people constantly failing to achieve what they hope to accomplish. I see people constantly face oppression despite trying to avoid it. I see zombies and prisoners everywhere.

There are many reasons why there is so much suffering in the world, and one of those reasons, are because of lies. Lies may provide a temporary refuge, but eventually, that safety dissipates. One of those lies I’m talking about is that humans have free will. It truly is a destructive teaching that fuels people into asserting themselves over others.

At least when the alternative is faced, people can take a step back and stop trying to be God, which is indeed a primary reason as to why people even claim that we have free will in the first place. People want control over their life, and they certainly want to think that they have control over their life.

In some cases, convincing others of something is only possible after you’ve first convinced yourself, which is one of the reasons why they not only to lie to others about having free will, but to themselves.
