Starting my first internship at Google this summer and was wondering how the return offer/conversion process usually works these days. I’ve seen people mention conversion interviews for 1x interns before, but it seems like the policies may have changed, so I’m kinda confused about what’s actually common now.

For people who’ve interned recently:

• how much does host/team feedback matter?
• are conversion interviews common?
• what actually helps most with getting a return offer?
• anything interns do that hurts their chances without realizing it?

Mostly just trying to understand what I should focus on during the internship besides obviously doing the project well lol. Would appreciate hearing people’s experiences/advice 🙏
