Entering with B2 visa and re-entering with F1 visa?

Hello everyone,

So I have both a B2 visa and an F1 visa. My second semester of school starts on September 7th (FYI I’m currently on medical leave, so even though it’ll my second semester, I’m going to have to be issued a new I-20 in order to enter on my F1). I would only be able to enter with my F1 visa 30 days before the semester starts (so starting from August 9th).

The thing is, there's an MLB match in late July and a concert in early August that I'd like to attend with a friend. Would it be okay to enter in mid July with my B2, exit to Canada after August 9th, and then re-enter the US with my F1 a few days after that? Or would that be a genuinely bad idea?

Curious to know if anyone has done this before, or if it's something that people actually do.

Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone! Definitely won’t try this then 😬
