To start, it’s a false dichotomy because you can be strong and skinny, or neither strong nor skinny.

Secondly, female bodies have been policed for far too long! Trading “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” for “LIFT HEAVY SHIT” seems to be another (potentially egotistic or misaligned) directive.

What happened to just…body nirvana? Focusing on how we feel in our bodies or functional movement, and not continuing to chase arbitrary metrics (weight, one rep max, waist to hip ratio).

Obviously, a well-balanced fitness routine would involve resistance training (as well as cardio and flexibility work) but a productive response to skinny culture should focus on the whole person, not throughput. Our bodies are just where we live, and don’t need to be treated as projects to endlessly optimize.

Does anyone else agree?
