Hey everyone,
I’m pretty new to boxing and my coach has me sparring more often now.
I work really hard for my money, and thankfully I’m in a position where I can invest in quality gear instead of buying something twice. Since I use my brain for my work/business, protecting myself is a huge priority. I know no headgear can prevent everything, but I want to make the smartest investment possible for long-term sparring.

For those of you who have used either (or both):
Which one would you choose and why?
Is the face saver worth the slight tradeoff in openness/vision?
Does the cheek protector feel noticeably more natural during sparring?
Any issues with shifting, blind spots, uppercuts, etc.?
Also… a good friend recently gifted me a pair of red Cleto Reyes gloves, so I’m also trying to decide on color.
Should I go:
🥊 Red headgear + red gloves
🥊 Black headgear + red gloves
🥊 White headgear + red gloves
…or something else?
This is definitely a piece I plan on using for years, so I’d really appreciate any opinions from people who’ve actually sparred in these.
